Odera set to produce Africa’s biggest ‘war film’

US-based Nigerian filmmaker, Odera Ozoka whose second featureHollywood streetis gearing up for film festivals around the United States and in Africa, has said he will commence pre-production of his 3rd ambitious feature film,Biafra: A Forgotten Place, soon. The writer cum director and his partner, French-born actress, Clotilde Delavennat were recently spotted at a private event in Hollywood, where they were meeting with investors to talk about his new civil war drama. Odera who won the AMAA back in 2010 for his first feature film,Soul Diaspora, and also the Audience award at PAFF said, he has enlisted business scholars to map out a strategy for reaching the audience for a bigger scale budget. “We have a business model that was researched thoroughly because ultimately film is art, but its also a business. And the investors need to be happy. Movies like mine makes money worldwide, and you’ll see more films like it made. So, we’re taking a business friendly approach to the whole thing. Also, I have a team of really talented individuals from different backgrounds- Asia and Europe and Africa as whole; working to make sure we’re successful in creating something visually arresting,” the director said. “We definitely want to show Africa in it’s greatest strength. This continent is gorgeous and rich and we plan to reveal it to the world like never before. I hope to make a special film.”
